While the entire world of coffee has its eyes this week on Copenhagen, in Portland, Maine, a roastery-cafe called Coffee by Design turns 30.
Founder Mary Allen Lindemann and her daughter, Alina Spears, recently sat down with Filter to share their favorite parts of they city they’ve called home for decades. It’s a long and fascinating read, a dual look at a city through the eyes of a mom and daughter.
🎡 With cities like Paris and London which have multiple Filter travel guides published already, I always find it fascinating to ask what are the places that one guide mentions but none others? And what places get mentioned repeatedly? (To my surprise, the London Eye keeps coming up, and Le Marais almost never does. Seriously, Le Marais??)
And so the same with Mary Allen and Alina’s Filter for Portland. Read the post, or bookmark it for later, and don’t miss the links at the bottom with every place pinned for you to plan your own visit to Portland (the original one).
🤫 Okay, secret time. Filter recently launched Filter’d: The place for people in coffee. It’s an online space for baristas, roasters, entrepreneurs, farmers, & everyone in between to connect, reconnect, & share experience. It’s admittedly super exclusive to everyone outside coffee, but super inclusive for everyone working to make the morning coffee and you’ll be joining many of the coffee professionals you’ve met through Filter.
